Oxytocin
Nine-amino acid neuropeptide. Endogenous bonding/affiliative signaling; pharmaceutical use in obstetrics and as off-label adjunct in social-anxiety / autism research.
FDA-approved as IV/IM Pitocin for labor induction. Intranasal oxytocin is the form used in psychiatric research; replication of social-cognition effects has been mixed. Compounded sublingual/intranasal forms common in concierge psychiatry.
Intranasal absorption is variable. Behavioral effects in well-controlled trials have been less reliable than early enthusiasm suggested. Cardiovascular effects with high IV doses are real (obstetric context).
Cyclic structure: Cys-Cys disulfide bridge between residues 1 and 6. C-terminal amide.
Per-claim grading. Each claim is graded independently — same peptide, different claims can carry different grades.
