SCF (Stem Cell Factor)

Cytokine binding c-Kit receptor (CD117). Drives hematopoietic + melanocyte stem-cell activity. In skin: contributes to melanocyte homeostasis + follicular stem-cell maintenance — the mechanistic rationale for cosmetic-serum inclusion.

Research grey

This compound sits in research-grey territory. The caveats below carry more weight than for FDA-approved entries — read them.

Mechanism

Recombinant SCF (ancestim) had FDA approval as Stemgen for stem-cell mobilization in cancer-treatment contexts but is no longer marketed in the US. Cosmetic-serum SCF (in Blueprint Serum + other biomimetic-peptide formulations) is included for the melanocyte + follicular stem-cell maintenance rationale. No published cosmetic-indication RCT validates topical SCF efficacy at the included concentrations.

Caveats

Most niche of the Blueprint Serum biomimetic-peptide set. Mast-cell activation is a theoretical concern in topical formulations for patients with mastocytosis or severe atopy. No RCT validates the cosmetic-indication claims at the topical-serum concentrations used.
